Hi! Thank you for taking the time to get to know a bit about our family!

We are Kyle & Shea, and we live in Anchorage, Alaska. We have been married for nearly 15 years and we adopted our first child, Brecken, in 2017!  We fell in love and dated through college and got married shortly after graduating. We both grew up in rural Kansas and have lived in Alaska for 9 years. We call Alaska home and are so grateful for the opportunity to live in such a beautiful place. 

Shea is a speech-language pathologist and works part-time at a local outpatient hospital clinic in Anchorage.  A balance between work and family life is extremely important to her, and there is nothing she loves more than being with her family.  Shea was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2010, which delayed our plans to start a family, but she has made a full recovery from a stem cell transplant and has been cured ever since.  While not a choice we would have made, beating cancer taught us a lot about the importance of health and family and formed an even stronger bond between us. 

Kyle is an engineer by background and works in the energy industry.  He loves nothing more than enjoying activities in Alaska with his family (skiing, snowmachining, hunting, fishing, camping, and hiking to name a few).  He also loves the day-to-day “Dad-life” with his family just cooking, going to sports practices, helping with homework, reading, and playing with toys and games.

Brecken is an active, loving boy who is in kindergarten. He loves school and his friends, and he can’t wait to be a big brother.  When he isn’t building legos, you can find him exploring the outdoors and playing sports.

Our furry friends are Hatcher and Remi. Hatcher is a 7-year-old Golden Irish and Remi is a 4-year-old Large Munsterlander. They have grown up with Brecken and are extremely docile and loving dogs that are Brecken’s best friends and follow him around wherever he goes. 

Our daily life revolves around family and being active and involved. We have dinner together every evening – this is Shea’s favorite part of the day, where we get to talk about our days and share a home-cooked meal and conversation with each other. We love to explore the Chugach mountains, just outside our back door, and you can often find us adventuring around Alaska as much as we can most weekends.
